5 Powerful Daily Habits to Skyrocket your Productivity

Productivity must be one of the most used terms of the 21st century, and yet a lot of us still struggle to maintain high levels of productivity on a consistent basis. As a result, there are numerous productivity boosting methods, tips and tricks out there that are designed to help people achieve more each day. In today’s article, we offer five simple productivity boosting habits that have been tried and tested over time by some of the world’s most successful people.

1. Be the First to Arrive and the Last to Go

There are many benefits to starting your day early, and one of them is the ability to beat morning traffic. There’s nothing worse than being stuck in a traffic line while thinking about all the tasks that you would’ve completed by now, whereas starting your workday earlier than everyone else will enable you to set the tone for a productive day. Similarly, it helps when you are the last one to go because not only will you have more time to work, but you’ll also miss out on the frustrating evening traffic.

2. Plan Each Day the Night Before

The best time to make your to-do list and plan your next day is the night before. This productivity hack is a complete game changer and is used by successful entrepreneurs such as Marie Forleo and Tim Ferris. All you have to do is set aside 15 to 20 minutes each evening to reflect on what you’ve achieved on the present day so that you can start the next day’s to-do list with a clear idea of what needs to be done. Make sure you prioritize your to-do list so that you’re able to start with the most important and urgent tasks first. Typically, these should be tasks that contribute to your long-term goals, so that if nothing else gets done, you’ll have at least gotten them out of the way.

3. Leave the Office for Lunch

When lunchtime comes, leave the office environment and get a breath of fresh air to rejuvenate your mind. Being in the same space for a long period of time can affect your ability to readily engage your imagination and creativity. Leaving the office during lunch will help you re-set your focus, refresh your mind and renew your perspective. You’ll come back with more energy and clarity than you had when you left, enabling you to continue being productive for the rest of the day.

4. Minimize Distractions

Nowadays, we live in an era of constant distraction, as everywhere you go there’s always something that gets your attention, whether it is social media FOMO, the temptation to surf the Internet during working hours, or some other distraction. The best way to deal with all these issues is to set clear boundaries for yourself and others who might try to distract you.

If you constantly feel tempted to check your social media profiles while at work, then put a timer on your laptop that disables all social media apps until you’re finished with a particular task. That way, you’ll be forced to focus on nothing else but the task at hand.

If you have your own office, close the door and put a ‘do not disturb sign’, and if you work in an open plan environment, simply place the ‘do not disturb’ sign on your cubicle entrance or at the back of your PC or laptop to show your co-workers that you don’t want to be disturbed. At the end of the day, you’re at the office to work, and getting work done is more important than chatting about the latest reality TV shows or Internet rumors.

5. Keep Your Goals in Mind

List your goals on your journal, notebook and phone, and keep them close by to serve as a reminder for when you feel like giving up. Keeping your goals close at hand will enable you to see them on a regular basis, and seeing where you want to be will instantly inspire you to keep pushing harder and get things done.

Also, think about how it would look and feel if you were the most productive member of your team. What would you spend your time doing? Scrolling through Instagram or sending out emails and creating content? Search within yourself to find out what your views on personal performance are.

As they say, the only true competition you have is the one staring back at you in the mirror. So strive to compete with yourself every day, and be better than you were yesterday. Strive to do more and achieve more with each passing hour, and be sure to keep track of your results so that you can watch the progress over time. These seemingly small habits have the potential to transform your life exponentially.

I really like how simply you put it. There are so many productivity tips on the internet that we are often getting lost. These days, simplicity is the key.
