Powerful Ways to Boost Your Confidence

Confidence is a catalyst for success. A confident person would not be afraid to step out and achieve any goal that has been set. Confidence goes a long way in helping you seize various opportunities that come your way each day.

When you’re confident in yourself, it makes it easier for other people to trust you and rely on you. Your opinions would be much more respected based on the level of self-confidence that you possess.

You need to start paying attention to how confident you are in the presence of other people and available opportunities. It is not just enough to have a particular skill set. Confidence will go a long way in helping you sell that skillset.

Here are some powerful ways to boost your confidence:

1. Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

It is not a great idea to compare yourself to other people. Comparing yourself with others only puts more pressure on you. It has been scientifically proven that the envy which stems from comparison can lead to a decrease in self-confidence. Envy in itself is a bad trait and does not benefit anyone.

You have to learn how to take your time when trying to achieve your goals. There is no need to rush because your friends have started making achievements which you’ve not made. You should understand that we cannot all make it at the same time.

You will feel so much better about yourself and maintain a good confidence level if you can just stop comparing yourself to others.

2. Have a Positive Mindset

Negativity is a destroyer of self-confidence. Positivity, on the other hand, is the panache for negativity and it also boosts confidence levels. There a lot of things that could serve as sources of negativity in your life. It is important that you identify these things quickly and stay away from them before it gets too late.

Sometimes, the friends you find yourself around, or even family members, could constitute as sources of negativity in your life. You might need to get away from such people and try associating with people that share similar goals and dreams with you.

Invest more time and money on things that will positively motivate you toward achieving your goals and boosting your confidence level. Positivity promotes confidence.

3. Smile More

A smile from one person can put you in a good mood for the whole day. Smiling is very important when interacting with other people on a daily basis.

When you smile at someone as a sign of gratitude for the service they rendered to you, it boosts their confidence. The same way you feel more confident in yourself when you see smiles on the faces of your clients.

A couple of smiles will not cost you anything at all. So, the next time you step out of your home try to make as many people as possible feel good about themselves by smiling.

4. Face Your Fears

There are times when it is okay to run away from a “scary” situation. They say you live to fight another day. But this cannot go on forever. You must face your fears regardless of how low your confidence may be at the time.

Imagine this. You love acting but you are too scared to climb up on stage and face that large audience. At first, you can stay back and watch from the sidelines where you feel safe, but you need to remember that you are not fulfilling your dreams from there.

Maybe you keep telling yourself that you will be ready and fully confident one day, but you must know that the day will never come unless you embrace your self-doubt and poor confidence. Go up that stage and face the scary audience. Things will only get easier from there.

5. Exercise

It is very common for individuals who are overweight to get shamed for it. It is not necessarily their fault that they are that way, as it could be as a result of a medical condition or something else.

But the society doesn’t seem to care about whose fault it is. People who are on the plus side have large tendencies of low self-confidence.

We do not support body shaming in any way, but it is advised that you try to lose some weight if you’re on the plus side. It would go a long way in boosting your self-confidence.

6. Experiment with Your Behavior

Take out time to perform behavioral experiments on yourself. There are things that you can actually do but don’t do. This is usually because of doubt which stems from a lack of self-confidence.

So, when you’re about to try something and you have that “you can’t do it” feeling in your gut, challenge yourself to go ahead and do it. Try this out on different occasions as a behavioral experiment/study. You will find out that you can actually do a lot of the things that you thought you couldn’t.

Besides, you can never know if you don’t try. By the time you have carried out these experiments/studies a couple of times, you will experience a boost in your self-confidence.

7. Never Accept Failure

It’s perfectly normal to have negative thoughts in your head from time to time. Such thoughts inhibit the growth of your self-confidence. They can make you feel like you want to give up and abandon your dreams.

You must not allow this to happen. You need to get rid of negative thoughts. Try as much as possible to avoid situations that facilitate negative thinking. You need to start believing more in yourself and in your abilities. Giving up will not benefit you. It will only leave you with a broken heart and regret.

Stay positive, keep believing, and keep moving!

All these points are powerful ways to boost your confidence. Make sure you follow them to get better results regarding your confidence levels.

    Thank you Nikos for this.
    Again, simply explained and actionable.
I like especially the lesson 1. Don’t compare yourself to the others. This is important also because we can never know how much effort the other person put into the game and how long he’s playing. We will never get a full load of information to compare properly. Then we call it “luck” or “talent”.
I don’t believe in talent. I BELIEVE THAT HARD WORK PAYS OFF.

  3. Self Confidence

I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your blog?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe
you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two
images. Maybe you could space it out better?

Thank you for the info. I think the most important thing is to provide valuable information. But some pictures in the article would be nice as well.
