However, renting a car will ensure that you get everywhere quickly. As we said, this is especially important when it comes to larger cities. Take Chicago as an example. There’s no way that anyone can manage to visit the hundreds of sights in Chicago just by walking.

Using a car rental in Chicago, however, can be a game changer, as you can get to all the places you need to get to quickly!

Public Transport

Using public transport as your primary form of transport can be a hit and a miss, and that’s exactly why some tourists insist on it, while others avoid it. What’s great about public transport is that it’s cheap – definitely cheaper than renting a car or using your own. Additionally, public transport is very quick, especially when it comes to cities which use a metro.

You can easily get across a few miles in a matter of minutes.

The reason tourists sometimes avoid public transport is its efficiency and complexity. It’s not unusual for public transport to be late, which only causes you to be late to everything. It’s also possible that the map of the public transport route is intelligible and the system is just way too complex. This is even more difficult when it comes to visiting a city in a different country where you don’t speak the language.

Because of this, we recommend that you do research before you actually visit the place you’re planning on visiting. Some cities have great systems of public transport that are definitely the best option of travel, while other places should be avoided.

Taxi Services

If you can afford it, using a taxi can easily be the best form of public transport. The problem with taxis is that they can be very expensive. They’re even more expensive when they’re working in larger cities.

Because of this, service like Lyft and Uber have attracted a lot of attention and are taking over the industry. These services are usually much cheaper than city taxies and, just like other cars, they’re a quick way to move around.

In some cheaper countries, taxi services are also much cheaper, so affording them is not a problem, but using mobile apps for taxi services can be the best way to go about it in more expensive countries.

Travel Company

Travel companies usually organize tours by bus, and getting from point A to point B is as quick and as efficient as using a car. However, you’re completely restricted to certain areas and you don’t manage your own time, as the itinerary you pay for is already established.

These trips usually have a travel guide who can answer all your questions about everything you’re interested in, which is a plus, but your activities, movement and free time are completely established by the travel company.
