5 Card Games To Keep Your Friends Entertainment On A Get-Together Night

In an era of increasing digitalization and numerous online games, a card game might seem like an old-fashioned choice for a get-together. Yet, the card games in this list provide interactive components, quirky themes, and plenty of opportunities to strategize, and bond with your friends and family.

Exploding Kittens

If there’s a fun, quick and quirky card game to enjoy with friends and family, that’s Exploding Kittens. It’s also simple, as each player must draw one card from the deck hoping not to get an exploding kitten card. If that’s the case, the player is immediately out. Though, there are several ways to strategize and avoid being blown out of the game. Some cards allow you to “defuse” kittens or skip your turn. Others let you see which card is going to be drawn next. This is especially useful as you can check the deck and avoid an upcoming exploding kitten.

Uno

Uno has long reigned as the number one card game for social gatherings and for good reasons. Not only is it highly entertaining but also quick and easy to get. To start, each player receives seven cards while the remaining card rests on a draw pile. Players take turns discarding a card that matches the color or number of the top card in the discard pile. If a player doesn’t have a matching card, they draw from the draw pile. Special cards such as skip, reverse, and draw 2 can change the course of the game. The game’s goal is to be the first person to play the very last card. Of course, players shouldn’t forget to say, “UNO” whenever they are down to that last card.

Teen Patti

Teen Patti is an Indian card game similar to poker and is played with a deck of 52 cards without jokers. The dealer deals three cards face-down to each player. The game starts with the player on the left of the dealer, who can choose to see their cards or play blind. The player can then choose to bet or fold. If they choose to bet, they have to place a bet equal to or higher than the previous player’s bet. After the first round of betting, the dealer reveals one card from the deck. This card is known as the “joker” and can be used to represent any card. The game continues with each player having the option to bet or fold. The winner is the player with the highest-ranking hand at the end of the game. There are several versions of this game, including 20-20 Teen Patti, AK47, and 999 among others.

The Voting Game

Which one of your friends has the most scandalous Google Search history? Who would clog your toilet and keep quiet about it? Or, who would find a way to break out of prison and succeed? The Voting Game will have you and your friends asking these and lots of other hilarious and awkward questions. The group will have to vote for the player best described by a particular question.

The Fox In The Forest

If you’re looking for a smaller, two-player game, then this one is a perfect choice. The Fox In The Forest is a trick-taking, fairy-tale-based card game centered on a woodcutter and his daughter who live near the forest. With 33 cards, 17 tokens, and 2 reference cards, the game’s objective is to use the characters’ special abilities to win tricks and keep your place in the forest.
