Run your company well and inspire your employees or it won’t matter if you make any sales. That was Murphy’s Law, but you have to think. How does a good manager inspire the employees they have to do their best?

If you want to become a better manager, it’s not enough to show up at work, go into your office, and check the AAPL earnings date. You have to get to know the employees that are working each and every day and feel what the pulse of the company is. It doesn’t mean only making crucial decisions for the company, such as what new products to add, how to handle clients’ requests, or which marketing strategies to use. Lead by example and be an inspiration every day. After all, many people who work for you look up to you.

1. Nurture Open Communication

Open communication is the key to good management. Not every company has employees who are eager to share their thoughts and experiences with their managers. However, those who do are more likely to be successful.

Open communication leads to better relationships among various departments and ultimately results in happier employees and higher productivity. Good managers mentor those around them and help them reach new heights. Great leaders motivate their people to be better, and, in turn, they inspire their teams to be better.

2. Create an Active Working Surrounding

A manager is someone who has authority over the work and activities of a team. He sets the tone of the team and also represents the company in incidents that arise. An effective manager creates an active working environment where colleagues look up to and emulate him.

He should set an example by performing well in his professional and personal life and maintain a pleasant physical and emotional environment in the workplace. A manager should also support those under his supervision and share information concerning company policies and activities.

3. Invest in the Happiness of Your Employees

A good relationship is everything in management, and it’ll be the determining factor in how successful your company will be. That said, not all managers are created equal. Some are born with it, some develop it, while some take a while to develop it.

If you want to put your best foot forward as a leader, it’s crucial to invest in the happiness of your people. It means treating them with the respect they deserve, even if that means taking a step back from your day-to-day activities a little bit.

Getting to know your employees and finding out how they want to be involved with your business is a crucial step to creating a great working relationship.

4. Foster Workplace Comradeship

Managers are special people in any company. Their role is vital for the organization’s well-being and success. A successful manager will create a workplace where employees feel appreciated, rewarded for their efforts, and made comfortable in their roles.

A manager must foster a sense of camaraderie within the workplace if he hopes to transform employees into winners rather than losers. The greatest asset a manager has is his ability to create a diverse team in every way. A diverse team leads to innovation and superior performance. Diversity pulls people into new areas of knowledge, strengthens their ideas, and pushes them to be better.

Most companies still haven’t figured out how to do this. Managers must find ways to incorporate diversity into their work from home programs. Also, they must foster workplace comradeship—the social relationship between an employee and manager to achieve optimal employee satisfaction.

5. Give Out Incentives at the Workplace

Employees need to see that their mistakes are recognized and taken seriously, which requires prompt and meaningful rewards for good behavior. Maybe the best way to motivate your employees is to make it fun for them when they achieve certain goals (e.g., team event win).

Your employees will feel compelled to continue working hard even when they know their performance has suffered because they’re excited about the prospect of receiving the reward. Since incentives can be delivered either as monetary awards or social benefits, it makes sense to keep them coming back for more when their personal goals are within reach.
